Alec - tiny fighter with a big heart and a bright future
Alec's story begins with an act of compassion. Born in an alley to a feral mum, this little brown and black boy was given a fighting chance because a kind-hearted lady next door was already feeding his mum. When young Alec developed sore eyes and clearly needed help, this compassionate woman didn't hesitate - she reached out for assistance and brought him to Woodlands at just 4 weeks old. What makes Alec's early story so special is that despite being born to a feral mum, he's already been given the gift of human socialization - the lady handled him every single day from the start, meaning he knows that human hands mean kindness, not danger.
What's remarkable about Alec is how his early socialization has shaped his personality. At just 4 weeks old, he's already playful, affectionate, and absolutely loves a cuddle - qualities that many kittens born to ferals never develop. His sore eyes, which could have been a serious setback, are responding beautifully to simple eye medication, and with continued treatment they'll soon be completely resolved. He's proof that even the tiniest kittens, born in the most uncertain circumstances, can thrive when given proper care and human connection from the very beginning.
Currently, Alec is being hand-reared by our dedicated animal care team, receiving the specialized attention that such a young kitten needs. At 4 weeks old, he's still dependent on careful feeding, warmth, and round-the-clock care - but he's thriving under that attention. As he grows and develops, his playful, affectionate nature will continue to blossom. He'll need time before he's ready for adoption, but when that day comes, he'll be a confident, healthy, loving kitten ready to bring joy to a family who'll treasure him.
This tiny boy has already overcome so much - being born to a feral mum in an alley, developing eye problems, and being separated from his mother. Yet he's faced it all with the resilience and sweetness that only kittens possess. Alec is asking for patience from us right now as we care for him and help him grow, and in return he'll become the wonderful companion he's already showing promise of being. For someone ready to welcome this brave little fighter into their home once he's fully grown and ready, which will be around 5th Aug, Alec will be worth every moment of the wait.

Our Rehoming Process
Application & Appointment
Step One
Step Two
Home Check
After this, we will arrange an appointment with you to pick up your new friend, as well as the required food and litter which is available to purchase at our on-site shop.
Rehoming
From the initial appointment to collection usually takes between 7-10 days. When you come to collect your new cat(s), you will just need to sign the relevant paperwork, as well as paying the donation fee via our website. Prior to release all cats will have the necessary vaccinations and medical treatments - all signed off by our vet.
Step Three
Rehoming Rules
- We will not rehome an adult cat into a home where there are existing adult cats.
- We won't home single kittens without another cat present. Rehoming a single kitten doesn't meet welfare standards as it will have no social interaction with other cats. This means that if you already have an adult you can have one kitten. If you don't have an adult cat, you can take an established adult cat or two kittens.
- We ensure that no cat or kitten is released to its new home until 48 hours after its vaccination.
- If there are other pets in the household i.e. dogs, we will normally recommend a kitten unless we have an adult cat who is used to living with dogs. Dogs are able to come to the Sanctuary to be introduced to the cat.
- All existing cats in any household must be neutered.
- All cats and kittens that leave Woodlands Animal Sanctuary must leave with the food and litter that they are currently using here, this can be purchased from our onsite shop.
